What Is IFS Coaching?

When you face complex challenges in life, at home, and at work, where do you turn?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a highly effective methodology for reducing stress, feeling better within yourself, and improving your relationships.

That’s why it’s the primary tool I use in coaching.

IFS coaching may be a good fit for you if:

  • You feel overwhelmed by the changes world events are bringing into your life and you’re having a hard time coping with them.
  • You’re constantly in management mode, working to keep the stress, anxiety, depression, or physical condition you live with in check and ensuring it doesn’t negatively affect your work, relationships, and finances.
  • You’ve tried talk therapy, mindfulness, or other approaches and you STILL struggle with intense thoughts and emotions, feelings of unworthiness, imposter syndrome, or the sense that things just aren’t “right.”
  • You’ve needed to take mental health days often, or use chunks of paid time off, because you’ve been so triggered by your coworkers or boss that you needed a break from the ongoing stress and pressure of “people issues” piled on top of an unending workload.
  • You feel exhausted and burned out doing all.the.things to take care of yourself, your loved ones, and your responsibilities, and you’re convinced everyone else is doing it better than you are.

None of this is permanent. If you’re ready to start finding answers, and getting relief, reach out and set up time for us to talk.

Stressed Man

The 5 Steps of IFS Coaching

We connect via Zoom (20-30 minutes, no fee). That conversation is about you — what’s happening, what’s important to you, what you’d like to experience more or less of.

We both decide if we’re a good fit for working together. If so, we proceed.

We look at how the stressors in your life are affecting you and get to the root of your stress responses. We connect with the parts of you that are asking for time, focus, and attention, and discover what they need from you.

We enhance your connection with Self — the wisest, calmest, most connected aspect of you — and build the relationship between Self and your parts. This often opens a doorway to greater clarity, helps lessen the tension of inner conflict, and provides a sense of peacefulness.

Over time, you have increasingly more access to practical, creative solutions that you’re ready and able to act on. Obstacles and overwhelm start to shift, ease, or fade away, as do old patterns, situations, and challenges.

Training

I am a Certified IFS Practitioner, Level 3 trained. Each level of training has been the official training provided by the IFS Institute.

Certification, also provided by the IFS Institute, is a rigorous process separate from training. Certification requires demonstrated skill facilitating the IFS model with a client, as well as as 200 documented hours of client work, consultation hours, and continuing education hours.

Note

Coaching is not counseling or therapy. If you need psychological or medical advice or assistance, please seek the services of a qualified professional who can help with your particular situation.
